Graduation

I always cry at graduations, so it was no surprise when I was choked up about my littlest boy graduating from kindergarten.

It's just that he's so. . . little. It doesn't seem right that he will be thrust into the big boy world of first grade in the fall. And truthfully, I'm not ready for him to be gone every day of the week.

Neither is he. In fact, he was a bit miffed that he had to go to his graduation ceremony. It was held in the middle of the day, and he really thought he should be in the tractor with his dad. There was seeding to be done, and all this school stuff really interrupts the work schedule.

Luckily, the ceremony was short. It doesn't take long to present four diplomas.

So, after two weeks of complaining that the last day of school would never come, what are the kids all doing on their first day of summer vacation?

Playing school.

Awwww, I get choked up too. When my son, who is now 15, graduated from kindergarten, I balled. I also balled the first day of his freshmen year, when he got in the car with his older sister and they drove off to his first day of high school--it was such a strange feeling, a good strange, bitter-sweet feeling : )

So cute... we don't do the whole mortar and gown thing here for a kindy grad, but love the images. Of course my kids are at the same stage, with Violet set for school next year (6 months time). So... that means....

*Walks off with fingers in ears, muttering: "not listening, not listening"*

I do Ok until they reach the first day of 1st grade. then I'm an emotional wreck. 1st grade is such a huge step, it makes me sad that my babies are gone all day.
That last picture is priceless!
