They Grow Up So Fast

It seems like just yesterday he was a flutter in his mama's belly.

It was a cold jolt of reality to be born in the chilly March air.

Thank goodness for straw.

In the blink of an eye, he was racing his friends through the alley.

He ignored his mother's admonition to come back here right this instant, young man.

He just went ahead and grew up.

Who knew that calves and kids had so much in common?

Awww, that poor mama has lost another baby to the herd. I love the straight on shot of the pg mom. We recently weaned our calves. We left the mamas on pasture so we don't have to listen to both of them bawling at the same time. I must get my camera out more. I'm afraid I'll drop it in the manure like I did my cell phone!

I just love reading your blog, Erin.

You have such a great sense of humor! You should do a coffee table book for ranchers and farmers. Who knows maybe some city folks and townies would enjoy it too!
