The sun has set on another harvest season.
The adults are celebrating.
The children are melancholy. They protested when I told them we would be eating supper at the kitchen table.
The boys have stockpiled enough cans of wheat to prolong their own harvest for many months to come. A farmer's work is never done.

You've taught them well! "...work is never done"...they will be hauling wheat around the table while the stubble is buried in snow this winter. They have enough farm toys to get the job done!:)
How cute is that? They have been busy haven't they.:)
way to harvest! I enjoy your blog so ever much! The stories and photos make me long for a farm life.
You can get some of the most amazing sunsets!! Amazing! I love the boys' trucks. Such good workers. :)
I am slightly envious. We haven't even started harvest yet. Will be about another 2 weeks because of the rain and cool summer.
Just stumbled on this National Archives site (http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/picturing_the_century/portfolios/port_ackerman.html#)--the fourth picture down is the wheat harvest 80+ years ago.
congrats on completing harvest! We won't begin ours (hay) til late September and hopefully end by early November.
Love the photo and yes....a farmers work IS NEVER done!
is that sunset straight out of camera?? That is AMAZING. I just put up a couple shots that literally PALE in comparison.
Great post! Love how you always tie such fantastic pictures into your posts. You almost need to write nothing... your pictures tell such fantastic stories!
What a awesome picture.. You have the most beautiful sunsets..
Sandy
What a gorgeous sunset photo! I am going to be posting some of my own next week, but I don't think any can live up to that one!
