A few of you noticed my absence this week.

If I were married to, say, an accountant, I could have told you that I would be leaving for a few days. I could have had everyone's bags packed. I could have had the neighbors lined up to feed the chickens, and I could have had the laundry caught up and the yard freshly mowed.

Since I am not married to an accountant, our vacation plans go something like this:

Him: It's too wet to bale the hay. Wanna go camping?

Me: When?

Him: Whenever we can get ready.

Me: Um, sure. How long will we be gone?

Him: Until the hay is ready to bale.

Then I scurry around cleaning the camper, packing for six people, making menus in my head, scratching out a grocery list so we can stop at the store on the way through town, and desperately trying not to forget anything. I always forget something. This time it was baked beans and Riley's socks, which was much better than the time I forgot the toothbrushes.

I'll share more about our impromptu camping trip later, but for now, here are some of my favorite images.

Our family took an 8 day camping trip to Maine last summer. I was so busy getting everyone elses things loaded, plus food and camping gear - and my suitcase got left behind! Shopping wasn't really on our agenda for the week.

And I thought it was just our family that did that! Drives my mother in Georgia nuts that when I say we are coming I don't give a date til we are pulling out of the driveway leaving.

And what's really funny? I wondered if you had gone on vacation and then thought, "Naw, not this time of year with all that's involved with farming."

Great pictures!

Why I can't get this thing to let me in with my name I have no idea...Robin from Minnesota here...

Love the scenery and kudos to you for being able to pull it off! Leave it to a farmer to just up and leave when it's too wet to bale. lol
