Fleeting

I can already see the end of summer, and I'm not happy about that.

We have one more week of swimming lessons. Then it's the county fair. Then we'll be harvesting, and before we know it the kids will be back in school.

I selfishly want to keep the kids home. I'm not ready to let them go again, especially since I'll be sending off three of them and keeping only one at home with me.

I'm also mourning the loss of June with its rain showers and abundance of green.

I know that all too soon, frost will coat these wires and snow will settle on these leaves. I know that there is a purpose for every season, but I'd like to hold onto this one just a little longer.

WHOAH cowgirl... rein it in a little!!! You're freaking me out! I was still seeing the glass half full when it came to summer! And who knows, we could get an Indian Summer.... I'm the eternal optimist. Plus I homeschool so if September is nice that counts as summer!

Summer came so late to us this year, that I'm hoping it will stay late, too--maybe to late September? Wouldn't that be nice?

This summer has just flown by! Partially cuz it took so long for summer to arrive and then add in the busyness of it this year!! We are taking the kids school shopping this weekend. As we will soon be starting the wheat harvest too and doing the second cut on the hay. Our school starts the 20th of Aug. already!!

Terry and I (my husband)were just talking about how summer was just about over this morning.

I so agree with you, I hate to see summer leave. We will be doing hay by the 25th of July and then it will be time for school to start (I work at a Technical Collge), then third cutting of hay, then harvest.....

Then winter. But not the kind of winter you have, but still winter.

I know exactly what you mean. School starts in one month and we haven't touched any of our 4-h projects (except the garden, and it's struggling and not producing anything). We have cheer camp this week. Our fair starts the week after school does. We haven't gone camping at all. We haven't done anything at all! Dang it! I need another month.

Beautiful pictures. I am always so glad to see summer go. It is my least favorite time of year. I will miss swimming with my kiddos but I LOVE the changes that fall brings.

It's always nice to read about another mum who is not in a hurry to get her children back to school. I enjoy school holidays, and the time spent with my six, so much that I think I dread the beginning of the next school term more than they do! I still have three at home this year....
