Milestones

DSC00925

Once upon a time, a beautiful, dark-haired baby was born.

She charmed her family with her sparkling eyes and her dark, curly locks.

Then, as if overnight, a transformation took place. Suddenly, she was . . . blonde!

Her mother was overcome with surprise and began styling her hair in unfortunate directions. She retaliated by donning a variety of unflattering head coverings.

She had good hair days.

And she had bad hair days.

She resorted to wearing an assortment of hats.

How she survived this period with her dignity intact is anyone's guess.

Only on holidays did her hair look presentable.

The time came when her golden locks were too frequently dangling in her peanut butter sandwiches, and her mother made the inevitable appointment for the first haircut.

At long last, she was able to look herself in the mirror and smile. Well, really it was more of a smirk.

She smiled. Her mommy cried. Somehow, it seemed to mark the end of babyhood, and it was no easier the fourth time around than it was the first.

How sweet she is!
We had the same thing with my son Alex. He started out a really dark reddish brown and over night he was a TOEHEAD.

Cute, cute! Why do I recognize 98% of the clothing that cute little EL is wearing? ;O) There are others in the family who went through the instant transformation to blondeness, too.

Her hair is very cute and grown-up :(

awww, we just got a haircut too! Well, I say we, my two year old. But its her second. It was fun to blog about the two different times and compare the pics. Why is it so sad to cut their hair??? You sure have to be a mom to know that one first hand. :-)

Awww, she is adorable. I have yet to cut our 3 year olds hair, I just cant bring myself to do it. Thank you for sharing your life on a farm with all of us, I for one love to read your adventures and long just a little bit to be there instead of in a massive neighborhood.
